  2.     TTY PORT ADD/MODIFY
  3.  
  4.     This window contains the following fields:
  5.  
  6.     From Port
  7.  
  8.     Use this field to specify the first port number to be configured
  9.     when you're defining new TTY's. If the TTY is already defined, you
  10.     can leave this field blank and enter the TTY name field instead. The
  11.     sequence for port numbering always starts at 0 (zero) not 1 (one).
  12.     For example, if there are 16 ports on the machine, the port numbers
  13.     will be 0 to 15.

  15.     Check with your hardware vendor for more information on the number
  16.     of ports and their setup.

  18.     To Port

  20.     Use this field to specify the last port number to be configured when
  21.     you're defining new TTY's. If you are only configuring one TTY, you
  22.     can leave this field blank.

  24.     TTY Names
  25.  
  26.     You can use this field to specify the exact TTY name of a port.
  27.     Every port on a system has a port number and a corresponding TTY
  28.     name. If you're configuring new TTY's, leave this field blank and
  29.     the system will assign the TTY name to each port as it is defined.

  31.     If the previous two fields (From Port and To Port) are blank, you
  32.     must specify the TTY name(s) in this field. Leave a blank space
  33.     between each TTY name for multiple entries.

  35.     Device Type
  36.  
  37.     Use this field to choose the type of device which will be added.
  38.     Click on the left mouse button and a list of available device types
  39.     will appear. You can choose one of the four standard device types:

  41.     + Terminal (the default)
  42.     + Serial Printer
  43.     + Dialin Modem
  44.     + Dialout Modem
  45.  
  46.     Note: Because each device type has unique characteristics, it is
  47.     important you select the correct device type. If the wrong device
  48.     type is chosen, the port may not react as expected.

  50.     Baud Rate
  51.  
  52.     The baud rate is the speed at which the port will send and receive
  53.     signals. The most common speeds for dialin modems are 1200, 2400,
  54.     4800, or 9600 baud. For terminals the most common speeds are 4800,
  55.     9600, or 19200 baud. Click on the arrow button on the right to
  56.     display a pick list of the baud rates and select one of them.
  57.     Enlighten will insert your selection into this field.

  59.     Term. Type
  60.  
  61.     When a user accesses the system from this port, the system will set
  62.     the terminal type to whatever you specify here. Each terminal has
  63.     its own set of characteristics, e.g., an IBM 3151 terminal emulation
  64.     is not the same as a VT100 emulation. If the terminal type is
  65.     unknown, specify the vt100 type.

  67.     Note: It is important you select the correct terminal type. If the
  68.     wrong emulation is chosen, the screen display will not work
  69.     properly.

  77.     Click on the Add button to add your TTY selection(s).
